Rocky meets Raging Bull. Only as a comedy. From Get Smart director Peter Segal, Grudge Match follows Henry ‘Razor’ Sharp (Sylvester Stallone) and Billy ‘The Kid’ McDonnen (Robert De Niro), two boxing rivals, who briefly depart retirement to have one final match, fifty years after their last bout. Although you’d expect the first images of a boxing flick featuring Stallone and De Niro to be a little more…boxier, all we get is the two arguing the street with Kevin Hart.
Stallone, who’s been in the news of late regarding casting of The Expendables 3, can next be seen alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the prison escape actioner Escape. De Niro can next be seen in The Hangover about old dudes, Last Vegas, along with David O. Russell‘s American Hustle.
Grudge Match was written by Tim Kelleher, with revisions by Entourage Executive Producer/writer Doug Ellin, so expect a little more that just a boxing comedy.
Grudge Match also stars Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger and Jon Bernthal.
