With Matthew McConaughey in the lead role, the supporting cast for Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming sci-fi film Interstellar has filled out nicely. Nolan, known for assembling star-studded casts, apparently isn’t disappointing us here. Joining McConaughey are Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, and Jessica Chastain. Now, Casey Affleck joins the cast.
First written by Jonathan Nolan as a directing vehicle for Steven Spielberg, the film is inspired by the theories of theoretical physicist, gravitational physicist and astrophysicist Kip Thorne. When Spielberg dropped from the project, and Christopher Nolan replaced him, and rewrote his brother’s script and incorporated his own ideas.
Interstellar is described as a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding. The film is slated to hit theaters November 7, 2014.
Affleck recently finished on two other films Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, an indie drama starring Rooney Mara and Ben Foster, as well as Out of the Furnace, starring Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Willem Defoe, Sam Shepard and Forest Whitaker.
Ain’t Them Bodies Saints was a hit during the festival circuit, and Out of the Furnace will be a sure-fire Oscar contender, with a December 6, 2013 release.
