John Huston was very involved in aspects of war. The last time he appeared on From The Vault, we showed you a 30 minute documentary called The Battle of San Pietro from World War II. Well thats not the only war related short documentary he’s made. A few years earlier, the director of such classics as The Maltese Falcon and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre made this documentary while serving in the US Army Signal Corps in 1943. He also narrates with the help of his father. The documentary deals with the successful effort of the US Armed Forces preventing Japanese troops from taking the Aleutian Islands. Enjoy your history lesson.
