Danny Maccabee is a plastic surgeon that has been pretending to be married for years so that he can attract women who find committed men desirable. Katherine Murphy is the receptionist at his office and is the only one that knows the scams he pulls on these women. When Danny meets a young attractive woman at a party without his fake ring on, she gets the wrong idea when she eventually finds it in his pocket. Now Danny must convince Katherine to pose as his ex-wife in order to start a whole web of lies to win over the possible girl of his dreams. Romantic Comedies are probably my most hated movies of all time. They’re filled with clichés and never really do anything new. This one might have had a few more laughs than a Sandra Bullock crapfest but its still the same old garbage with better comedy actors.

Adam Sandler plays Danny. Nothing special from him really. In fact, he wasn’t really funny at all. Somehow once again he’s in a movie where he gets ridiculously hot women falling all over him left and right. Its just so unbelievable. This time the ungodly hot Brooklyn Decker plays the early 20s could-be model named Palmer who falls for him 30 seconds after meeting him. Its pretty absurdly stupid. Then Jennifer Aniston plays his receptionist who is more his age and he never looked twice at her before. Hmmmm, I wonder what happens. Decker and Aniston just heat it up on the screen battling it out in bikini shots. Decker was just insane in her bikini and the filmmakers knew putting her in limited amounts of clothes every now and then would make the viewer forget how shitty the storyline was. Nick Swardson provided most of the comic relief as he inserted himself into Danny’s lies in order to get a free vacation to Hawaii. He plays Aniston’s fake boyfriend named Dolph Lundgren in order to show Palmer that Katherine has moved on to another man. Swardson had me cracking up and its good to see him appear in a role thats longer than 10 minutes of screen time. Supporting characters of an almost unrecognizable Kevin Nealon, Dave Matthews and Nicole Kidman provided some comedy also. In fact, the 3 main characters (Sandler, Aniston, Decker) were probably the least funny of the bunch. The two kids (Bailee Madison & Griffin Gluck) had me laughing more than our “stars” even though Madison’s fake British accent got a little annoying after a while.

Director Dennis Dugan loves Adam Sandler. This is the 6th time they have worked together after doing Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Grown Ups before doing Just Go With It. I think the movies are on a downward slope so maybe its time to give it a rest. Supporting characters providing most of the laughs is definitely not what you want in a comedic movie. Sure the romantic angle was there in full force, but you know how that’s going to play out before you even sit down in your seat. So the laughs are where you need something surprising. And this just didn’t work for me. They were too few and far between, I was getting pretty bored waiting for another laugh. Was it nice seeing Brooklyn Decker and Jennifer Aniston prance around wearing next to nothing in a few scenes? Yes. Oh Yes. But I wasn’t there to see a Swimsuit video. I wanted some laughs to go with my romantic holiday. And while I did get a few, it wasn’t enough for me to give a recommendation for this flick.
