Here are the big daddies of the year. Top 10 Movies of 2010, excluding comedies of course. Check out my Top 5 list of those here. I’m not a machine and can’t see every movie throughout the year. One notable film I missed is The King’s Speech which is getting all kinds of critical acclaim. I plan on seeing it eventually but it’ll have to be left off this list whether it was awesome or not. Now some quick honorable mentions before the Top 10. A few just missed the mark because so many great movies came out at the end of the year. Shutter Island, Toy Story 3, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World were all on my list until seeing some really good flicks within the last month or so. They still deserved that shout out. But now on to the Top 10.

127 Hours

10. 127 HoursDanny Boyle amazed me yet again with such a simple but compelling true story. A terrific performance from James Franco and another amazing score by A.R. Rahman.

Kick Ass

9. Kick-Ass – probably the biggest surprise of the year. Funny, action packed, and violent as hell. And I have to mention Nicolas Cage. Great over the top performance.

Harry Potter

8. Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1 – basically just a build up to the final installment but kept me very interested from beginning to end. And got me really pumped for the next one.

Black Swan

7. Black SwanDarren Aronofsky made me question my sanity after loving this bat shit crazy flick. Natalie Portman is a freak and Mila Kunis continues her ascent to the A list.

The Fighter

6. The Fighter – a true story that had me wanting more after it ended. A lot of superb performances and also a great history lesson of a lesser known boxer. And one word: BALE!

The Square

5. The Square – an Australian movie probably not seen by many but it should be. Twists and turns, edge of your seat thrilling moments. It was intense and awesome!

The Town

4. The TownBen Affleck proves his first directed flick was not a fluke. A suspenseful and exciting story. Plus Affleck shows that he can still act with the best of them, including Jeremy Renner in this one.

True Grit

3. True Grit – the Coens do it again. Jeff Bridges does it again. A Western remake possibly better than the original. Coen Brothers humor mixed with violence and cowboys. YES!

Inception

2. Inception – one of my most anticipated of 2010 and Christopher Nolan did not disappoint. An ensemble cast all doing a great job. A totally unique and interesting story. Mind Blown!

The Social Network

1. The Social Network – a simple story about a kid creating Facebook but so much more. David Fincher is on a roll. He got great performances from Eisenberg, Garfield, AND Timberlake! BEST MOVIE OF 2010!
