Saw 3D
Release Date – 10/29/10

Detective Hoffman, the new Jigsaw, is captured by Jigsaw’s widow and put into a trap but her inexperience causes him to easily escape. She goes on the run, even going to the police to confess she knew what he was up to all along. In exchange for immunity, she works with a detective on hunting down Hoffman. Meanwhile, a self help guru is going around motivating survivors of Jigsaw by telling his own story of survival. But then he is captured by Hoffman and put through tests yet again… or is it for the first time? Again, we have pretty much the same movie but with little twists here and there. I still hate how warehouses are setup into amusement parks of traps. Its highly unbelievable that Jigsaw, Hoffman, or any helper would be able to construct all of this and it immediately takes me out of the movie.

Saw 3D

Costas Mandylor returns as Detective Hoffman. He’s still a creep and still somehow evading capture even though the police have known he was up to no good for a while now. Sean Patrick Flanery plays Bobby Dagen, the man who got rich off of his book about surviving Jigsaw. But he has some secrets that come out as the movie progresses. Of course it wouldn’t be a Saw movie without bad acting. And this year’s winner is Chad Donella as Detective Gibson. How he got the part I’ll never know. His final scene is just laughable. Like any Saw movie besides the first one, we are treated to flashbacks involving Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw character. I like how they stopped making the movies as confusing as Saw V but I don’t see how they can keep passing the villain character onto new people to continue the franchise. Shawnee Smith took over for Tobin Bell then Costas Mandylor took over for Shawnee Smith, and at one point they were all working together. The twist at the end always puts all the pieces in place and a lot of the time its pretty stupid.

Saw 3D

Speaking of stupid, the way they SHOCKED the audience this time was just ridiculous. They show flashbacks to previous movies and scenes that we never saw that help the viewer understand whats going on. Its not something you can guess. Its just out of left field. I really like the original Saw. Cary Elwes (who reprises his role in a limited capacity) was terrible in the first movie but the premise was good. And the twist really shocked me. Saw was a guessing game with some suspense. Now its just a gorefest, not scary at all, with little to no suspense in the build up. This is billed as the final installment, but of course they leave it open for more at the end. I don’t know if they’ll continue the yearly edition of the franchise but you can bet your ass if it makes enough money, they’ll churn out another eventually. The 3D was surprisingly decent and not overly cheesy. Some blood and body parts flew at the screen and you can tell it was filmed that way and not converted afterwards like shitty Alice in Wonderland and Clash of the Titans. But seriously, put this franchise to bed. Its as Dead as Jigsaw. Oh wait, they keep bringing him back somehow so I guess we’re all doomed.
