Jackass 3D, directed by Jeff Tremaine, continues the madness of the hit TV show with some gimmick 3D shots thrown in for good measure. The usual cast of characters are back, led by crazy-man Johnny Knoxville. There are some really great laugh out loud skits in the movie but also some gag inducing shit stunts and of course several one-liners which make for some of the best moments. It can’t really even be considered an actual movie because there is no plot, but it surely is pure entertainment. It will have you holding your mouth in pain and crying from laughing so hard and for that fact it makes for one of the best comedies of the year.
Jeff Tremaine, through the years, has made a living by making people cringe. I give him major props for some of the creativity in some of the stunts and pranks they come up with. The slow motion shots are done to death but every time it is awesome, especially when they show the shot in actual speed during the end credits. There’s a little too much dong for my liking and the 3d shots are just thrown in randomly so it could make more money, but throughout there arn’t really any boring moments. I was constantly laughing ridiculously hard from the midget bar fight or dry heaving from the poo cocktail supreme. Either way I had an insanely awesome time in the theater.
The only real negative I had with this latest installment is that a lot of the stunts I feel like I’ve seen before or slightly altered in some way. They need to stay away from getting smashed by Bulls or Rams and do more creative pranks like the Old Man stuff which is always amazing. Ryan Dunn always makes for some great comments in between skits but I feel like this time it was a lot more of Pontius aka Party Boy which wasn’t as good as the first two movies. Also the ending skit where they always try to top the previous was kinda lame.
Other then that the whole entire movie is pretty awesome. I understand why people flocked to the theaters to see this, because everyone loves seeing someone other then themselves getting hurt or throwing up. The final few minutes during the end credits they played the Weezer song ‘Memories’ and showed a lot of old footage that was a nice touch and took me back to my high school days when we use to copy them and jump in bushes for fun. Jackasses they may be, but they know how to make a dollar and have fun while doing it, so go pay to watch them if you haven’t already.
