No surprise here. New Moon takes the #1 spot by a landslide. It actually beat The Dark Knight’s opening day record and became the third highest opening weekend number behind The Dark Knight and Spiderman 3. Good lord, there’s a lot of teenage girls out there. The Blind Side even had big numbers for the #2 spot so just about everyone was at the movie theater this past weekend.
The upcoming holiday weekend brings us the Wes Anderson stop motion animation The Fantastic Mr. Fox with voices by George Clooney, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray and many more. Also the Robin Williams/John Travolta comedy Old Dogs. And the action packed Ninja Assassin. Finally, the Cormac McCarthy adapted novel about the end of the world, The Road. Plenty to enjoy… but New Moon will probably reign supreme again.
