Release Date – 9/11/09

The Theta Pi sorority is hot stuff on the college campus. The girls are hot, they party, and they date the best looking, most popular dudes. During one of their big parties, the senior sisters decide to get back at one of their cheating boyfriends by faking a sister’s death. When it all goes wrong and the sister actually gets killed, they decide to cover it up so their lives aren’t ruined. Flash to 8 months later, they graduated college and throw a huge party at their sorority house. But it just so happens that someone knows what they did and is killing everyone involved. This is a poor man’s I Know What You Did Last Summer… which was a poor man’s Scream. The masked killer who is revealed in the end has been overdone now. It was lackluster in every department except female hotness.

The main characters are Cassidy (Briana Evigan), Chugs (Margo Harshman), Claire (Jamie Chung), Ellie (Rumer Willis) and Jessica (Leah Pipes). Former star of The Hills, Audrina Patridge, has a small role as Megan, the sister who is accidentally murdered in the beginning of the film. A cast of relatively unknown actresses… and it showed because they werent that good. Of course each sorority sister had to meet a stereotype. Cassidy is the girl who wanted to go to the cops when Megan died but was talked out of it, so she has a falling out with her friends. Ellie is the smart, nerdy girl who freaks out at everything. I swear she just went around screaming and crying for the entire movie. Claire was the follower, just doing whatever her sisters wanted. Chugs is the party girl who drinks excessively and bangs lots of guys. She annoyed me the most because she was the “Oh I’m the cool girl who acts like a guy” character. But coming in at 2nd most annoying is the head of the sorority Jessica. She took the character description of bitch and played it WAY over the top. She was still bitchy and annoying even when people were dying. Filling in the smaller roles were the boyfriends and the sorority mother played by Carrie Fisher. There are a few hints at who the killer could be but of course you know they’re going to throw you for a loop in the end. I have to admit, I did NOT guess the killer in this one.

This movie was a remake of the 1983 slasher film The House on Sorority Row. Unfortunately I can’t make the comparison because I did not see the original. So taking this as a fresh movie, I just felt like I was watching I Know What You Did Last Summer. It was almost exactly the same. An accident happens, a group of 20 year olds decide to cover it up, and then someone finds out and starts killing them. Is it just me or is that the same exact plot? All they did was add a college sorority. I was unimpressed but I didn’t really have high expectations for it anyway. The deaths were pretty gruesome at times but not super gorey which is one of the positives. And they did cast some hot girls so that’s a big plus. They pretty much walked around half naked the entire time. Can’t complain there. But this isn’t supposed to be a porno, it was supposed to be an actual film. It ended up just being a shitty horror film in a long list of shitty horror films that have come out in the last 10 years.
