Laurie Strode is living with Annie Brackett and her dad, the sheriff. They survived the brutal attack of Michael Myers but Laurie is suffering the consequences with some mental problems. She is having bad nightmares and seeing weird visions stemming from the attacks. Meanwhile, Michael is not dead, his body was never found after the ambulance crashed, and he’s been hiding out. Halloween comes around and yet again he sets out to find his sister. This movie is brutal. The deaths are gruesome and gorey. But it’s a little “out there” in terms of dream sequences and visions. I didn’t think it fit too well in the Halloween world.

Scout Taylor-Compton returns as Laurie Strode much like Jamie Lee Curtis did in the original Halloween II. But this is not a remake or reimagining of that story, its unique from the mind of writer/director Rob Zombie. Tyler Mane also returns as the gigantic Michael Myers. This dude is a beast and I honestly don’t know what other kind of role he could play besides beast-like men. Malcolm McDowell also returns as Dr. Sam Loomis but with a twist. No longer do we cheer for Loomis as he tries to “fix” Michael. Now he’s money hungry and trying to make a buck off the tragedy that he was a part of. And finally in a more prominent role than the previous film is Brad Dourif as Sheriff Brackett. He takes over as caretaker for Laurie and tries his best to help her through the tough times. I had no problems with any characters. They still have the build up from the first movie so no background story really has to be done. We just get right into the Michael Myers madness.

The movie is definitely the most violent Halloween of all time. But its also very weird. Myers constantly has visions of his mother and a younger version of himself. And Laurie is constantly having dreams of weird situations sometimes tricking us into thinking her dream scenes are really happening to her. I wasn’t a big fan of either of those and it really put a damper on my Halloween watching experience. Leave the ghosts and visions to supernatural type movies and stick to Michael Myers just hunting people down. I get that he was trying to show what goes on in the mind of Myers but I just didn’t care about that. All that aside, the deaths are SICK and there’s more stabbings in this than any other movie ever created. No one just gets stabbed once, its always multiple times… sometimes maybe a dozen times. This movie is ALL ABOUT STABBINGS! All in all, it fell flat for me. Zombie’s first try was much better. I was hoping for a Devil’s Rejects and I got another House of 1000 Corpses. BUT… its still better than most new horror movies and much better than those Busta Rhymes and LL Cool J Halloween sequels so I can’t whack it.
