1. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince
The 6th installment of Harry at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Directed by David Yates, adapted by Steve Kloves. Another year older, Harry discovers an old book marked “property of the half-Blood Prince” and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemorts dark past, with an emphasis on “dark”. Starring the same old gang plus Jim Broadbent as Horace Slughorn and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (Ralph Fiennes nephew) as Young Tom Riddle.
2. Brothers
Directed by 6 time Oscar nominee Jim Sheridan (In America, My Left Foot) and adapted by David Benioff (The Kite Rinner, 25th Hour) from the foreign film Brodre by Susanne Bier (Things We Lost In The Fire). The story is of a young man who comforts his older brother’s wife and children after he goes missing in Afghanistan. Starring Jake Gyllenhal, Tobery Maguire and Natalie Portman.
3. A Christmas Carol
Written and Directed by Robert Zemeckis (The Polar Express, Forrest Gump) comes an animated 3-D retelling of Charles Dickens classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas appirations. Jim Carrey plays four separate roles in this updated version of A Christmas Carol. Carrey portrays Scrooge, as well as the three ghosts (Past, Present, and Yet-to-Come). His dynamic character roles keep the four characters as diverse as being played by four actors. Gary Oldman also takes on several roles as he portrays Bob Cratchit, Marley, and Tiny Tim. Also involved are Robin Wright Penn, Cary Elwes, and Colin Firth.
