‘The Clone Wars’ Review

Clone Wars

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the animated film bridging together Episode 2 Attack of the Clones and Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith. Anakin gets a Padawan learner much like Obi Wan did with Skywalker in the previous film. Except Anakin’s Padawan is just like him. She’s cocky, hard headed, and reckless. So he actually likes her. The story is centered on the kidnapping of Jabba The Hut’s son and Count Dooku’s plot to blame the Jedi. The movie had a pretty terrible story and somehow it drug on for close to an hour and 40 minutes. I heard this was supposed to be a television series and it really shows. There’s terrible voice acting and dialogue, the animation is sub par, and its definitely aimed at a younger audience.

Clone Wars

I don’t think there was a need for this movie. It was directed by Dave Filoni and written by Henry Gilroy so I don’t know how much input George Lucas had on it but it doesn’t really matter. His fat greasy fingers are imprinted all over this. Jar Jar Binks and young Anakin may have ruined the franchise for some people but wait until you get a load of the young Padawan Ashoka and the comedy stylings of the Droid army. Ridiculous. The writing towards a younger audience is clear when nicknames start flying around. Anakin is referred to as Sky Guy by Ashoka so then he calls her Snips for some reason that I must have missed. Then they both call Jabba’s son Stinky the whole movie. And they just argue like an old married couple the whole time. It was almost as if they were hinting at some sexual tension even though that would have been gross. They constantly flashed secret smiles at each other and argued but always made up. I was confused.

Clone Wars

I’m surprised Christopher Lee and Samuel L. Jackson even lent their voice to this. They must have signed their souls away to evil overlord Lucas when they joined the previous movies. To say this movie was bad doesn’t even do it justice. I HAD to see it just because I am a Star Wars fan. I was one of those fans that told myself the prequels were AWESOME just because I loved seeing more Star Wars. Years later looking back at them I realize they weren’t really great movies. They may have been pretty good, but they weren’t Empire Strikes Back by any means. I’m not going to let myself get fooled by this installment. Its bad.
